Creature from the Black Lagoon is a 1954 monster film directed by Jack Arnold, and starring Richard Carlson, Julia Adams, Richard Denning, Antonio Moreno, and Whit Bissell. The eponymous creature was played by Ben Chapman on land and Ricou Browning in underwater scenes. The film was released in the United States on 5 March 1954. Creature from the Black Lagoon was filmed and originally released in 3-D requiring polarized 3-D glasses, and subsequently reissued in the 1970s in the inferior anaglyph format (this version was released on home video by MCA Videocassette, Inc. in 1981). It is considered a classic of the 1950s, and generated two sequels, Revenge of the Creature and The Creature Walks Among Us, each a year apart. Revenge of the Creature was also filmed and released in 3-D, in hopes of reviving the format. Mar 29, 2012 - I love this movie! They've been planning a remake since 2000, it's been in development hell for years. They even got the son of the original writer of the first movie to write it. Though I'm not sure if I want their remake, because instead of the creature being a prehistoric creature, the rumor is, the creature is a result of pollution. That is so stupid.

Jan 31, 2012 - I remember in the early 80s when this was shown in "3-D" on television & you had to wear those ridiculous glasses w/ the red & blue frames. Haven't seen it since.

Jan 17, 2012 - i saw this movie as a little kid in the 1970's.i thought the movie was great and fun to watch.i have the whole collection on dvd and it's really cool to watch them over and over again. the creature's theme song always scared me when i was a kid.richard carlson was like the go to guy for all these great sci fi films of the 50's and whit bissell was one of my favorite character actors.he was always good in westerns.
