He (Archer) wants to kill his younger self, to spare him the pain of his own ideals betraying him. With nothing left to hold on too & a life times worth of disappointment Archer wants out, but can't because as long as Shirou is alive, the path of a counter guardian is still available to him. Only in the Heavens fall route, Shirou doesn't take that path. In a nutshell.

May 20, 2012 - Both the anime and the manga adaptations are out of print(the licensing companies went out of business), so you'd have to watch/read either of them online, making the buying issue a moot point. The visual novel has been uploaded and fan-translated by XerBlade on Youtube. Try taking a quick look at it before you completely dismiss it as boring.

May 19, 2012 - I'd suggest reading the Visual Novel here on Youtube instead. The anime only follows one of three possible arcs, and is bogged down by the fact that there are so many things to explain and going on that you never really understand the stakes or get a good grasp of the characters. And yes, Archer is very much like Dante, in both appearance and personality.

Apr 19, 2012 - you see there lies the reason it is a star not a weapon or a blade which is archer/emiya's specialty therefore there is no way for them to take the concept of how the weapon was made or the experience it has because it is technically a star that gil uses to destroy his enemies and not really a weapon even though they call it a lance or sword or whatever it isn't actually a weapon in that sense therefore untracable the other reason is it is too powerful to trace like excalibur it can't be perfect

Apr 15, 2012 - Ea is not a weapon in the sense that everything else is. Ea WAS before the concept of a weapon existed. Calling Ea a weapon is horribly wrong as it is something far beyond the concept of a weapon or most anything that exists so when Archer tries to conceptualize it he does not understand what Ea is to the point of his mind going blank temporarily.
