Jan 10, 2011 - What a great record...inherited my copy from older brothers. Alfred Hitchcock really respected his young audience, and that's why this sounds just as great as it ever did. Thanks so much for posting it. I found this on a web search after listing this record in a friend's Facebook poll of favorite children's records. I had wanted to get the exact title right.

Jul 1, 2010 - This brings back some ANCIENT memories! Out teacher played this first part for us when I was in the 3rd grade, and the room was DEAD quiet from "I was alone in the Haunted House" to the end of the first story. I have this same record in my collection right now, and it's always worth a listen.

FoxPlant2006 Says:

Jun 27, 2010 - This is an interesting version of a classic ghost story, even if the ending doesn't even vaguely resemble how the Haunted and the Haunters really ended.

May 4, 2010 - Yep, those are the words that made me turn the light back on as kid, lol!

May 4, 2010 - My dad bought me this record when I was about 10 and I remember listening to it one night alone in the dark. The first story was soooo creepy that I had to switch the light back on and stop the turntable, zoinks! Wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing this gem!

Apr 21, 2010 - not since the late 70s have i heard these gems. it's amazing how much of the dialogue you retain from 30 years on...can't even remember my username or password after a month these days.

Apr 20, 2010 - When I was a kid, we had a "home stereo system" set up in the kitchen/dining room. This album, lots of dr seuss and disney records and jim croce/janis joplin were my best friends for many evenings. Thanks for the memories! The records are all long gone but remain in my heart.

Dec 16, 2009 - This was my first real ghost story when I was 6 I would INSIST on turning the lights out -door closed, etc, and scare the crap out of myself with the first story! and do it again and again I have been looking for this! This and "Radio Mystery Theatre" with E.G. Marshal were the greatest!

Oct 28, 2008 - You are very welcome. I also listened to this as a child and I am glad it has brought back good memories for you and new memories for your sons! My intentions of starting VintageHorrorSounds was for just that reason - to bring back memories. Thank you for the kind words and I hope my other postings, recent and future ones, hold good memories for you also!

m31kepler Says:

Oct 28, 2008 - I haven't heard these stories since my LP players stopped working decades ago. I loved them as a kid. Your postings allowed my sons to enjoy these stories as well. My five year old listened to every story. It's the longest I've seen him motionless for some time. Thank you.
